Purpose of this Site
This site is all about me, Bruce Skubon Jr. There are links to my C.V. along
with past and current research I have worked on while at the University of
Toledo. The research includes class projects along with my current thesis
work on the Oak Openings region in northwest Ohio. I have a B.S. in
environmental science with a focus in geology from the University of Toledo
and I am currently working towards my M.S. in geology with a focus in
hydrogeology. My career goals are to become a geologist or
hydrogeologist working for an environmental company or the USGS and to
someday get my PhD and become a professor at a university.

The calendar page shows the personal schedule of Bruce Skubon such
things as conferences and holidays. I will also include some of the cool trips
I am planning. I like to visit National Parks and collect national park stamps
so I will have a lot of trips that pass through some interesting places. I am
also a member of a local gem and mineral club so I will post when I will be
going on field trips with other rockhounds and geologists.
Photo Album
Bruce Skubon's photo album is a collection of my personal photos that I
have taken throughout the years. I also have included some that my
professor Dr. Fisher from the University of Toledo took while coring in
Thunder Bay, Ontario. I am not a good photographer so some of the
pictures might not be of the best quality. Feel free to download any of the
pictures you want just please email me and ask permission first. I would
greatly appreciate it.
Bruce Skubon's Obsession
This page is going to be an ongoing project of mine. I collect cancellation
stamps from the different National Parks in my Passport to Your National
Parks book. I will be displaying each of the national park stamps I obtained
along with some details about each park. Collecting the national park
stamps is free and is a lot of fun. If you are at all interested in the outdoors,
American history, or the environment I highly recommend purchasing one of
these books. Be careful though, the are VERY addicting!

Bruce Skubon's Research
The research for my thesis work at the University of Toledo can be found on
the Research page. It include data on Oak Openings geology along with
the Oak Openings GIS database (OOGIS). OOGIS is the database I
created for my thesis that includes spatial data for the Oak Openings area
such as bedrock geology, sand thickness, and aerial photos. OOGIS also
includes data from the Fulton County groundwater quality study that was
conducted in northwest Ohio. The thesis work I am conducting will enhance
my knowledge in becoming a professional geologist or hydrogeologist.
